Leifsson readin with swine fluI have seen the other side of Berlin now. Within the frames of a Nordic Book festival named „Into-the-wind“ I have now finished two readings and workshops in Berlin for young students and must say that I was very pleasantly surprised by how smart and open the educators in my home city turned out to be – Experiences in other parts of Germany such as Cologne had led me to believe that German teachers and librarians were conservative and far to easily shocked.

12 June On stage interview with Birgir Möller in Copenhagen Crime festival.
7-11 September Readings in Mantova, Italy.
End of year 2016 Introducing new novel in Reykjavik Iceland.


The Man Who Hated Children

The Man Who Hated Children is Leifsson’s latest novel for young adults. The setting is a twisted present day Reykjavik with elements of crime fiction in the storyline. The book was nominated for The Icelandic Literary Prize in 2014 and
The Icelandic Bookseller’s Literary Award in 2014. It has just been nominated for The Nordic Council Children and Young People’s Literature Prize for 2015. Film rights have been acquired by The Icelandic Film Company.

Working on a book and a play in Berlin

Thorarinn Leifson now lives in Berlin. He is finnishing illustrations for his novel called The man who hated children wich will be published in the spring of 2014 in Reykjavik. Thorarins books continue to gather international interest, most recent sales include Salani in Italy and an offer from a publishing house in South America just came in. More on that later. Recent works include the play The Foreign Kid.


Reykjavik literary award 2010

2010 Literary award: Thorarinn Leifsson in the company of city officials, the jury and the publisher.On the 21th of april 2010 Thorarinn Leifsson was awarded the Reykjavik city education council children books prize for "Grandmother's Library" which he also illustrated.


Interview in Politiken, Denmarks main newspaper

Thórarinn Leifsson gained impressive coverage in the Danish newspaper Politiken in the middle of december 2009 on account of Father's Big Secret. Not only was there a two-page interview in the paper's literary supplement, but Leifsson's drawings also graced the front pages of both the main paper and the literary supplement.
